You can see this around the 5:20 mark (the pistol skids along the pavement). Troopers and Little Rock Police were able to recover this firearm. Also, Trooper McCord was still in her FTO period during this pursuit. Monday morning quarterbacks will be happy to point out mistakes. However, a reckless, drunk driver was taken off the streets as well as a firearm. On 08-10-22, at approximately 8:10am, I was traveling south on Pike Ave when I noticed a gray Toyota Scion with what appeared to be expired tags. I ran the license plate that was displayed on the vehicle, LPN AR 610ZYN. The License Plate came back to a silver Mercedes-Benz. The vehicle then entered the round about and took the Broadway exit and was traveling towards the stoplight. I initiated my emergency lights, anticipating the vehicle to turn into the Big Red gas station. I then turned on my siren and turned it off to get the driver’s attention when the vehicle did not attempt to pull into the gas station. The vehicle then approached the stop light, which was red, and began to slow. Then the vehicle took a right turn in front of another vehicle and traveled south on Broadway St. The vehicle then began to increase speed and drove through four red lights. The vehicle then entered I630 west bound and began to further increase his speed to 122mph, the vehicle then began weaving in and out of traffic. During the pursuit, the driver later identified as Keiondre Calvin, threw a weapon out of the window. Mr. Calvin then took the John Barrow exit and was stopped by traffic. I then instructed the driver to exit the vehicle. Mr. Calvin was then taken into custody. The vehicle was then moved to Henderson Middle School out of the roadway. A search was then conducted of the vehicle. During the search, the following was located: 18.7 grams of marijuana, a scale, and an open container of Liquor. The weapon was recovered by Little Rock Police Department in the number one lane of I630WB. The passenger, After the search was completed, the vehicle was towed by Asher Wrecker service. Mr. Calvin was then transported to Pulaski County Detention Center. Mr. Calvin was charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence, Fleeing-Felony Vehicle or Conveyance-Substantial Danger Of Death, Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons, Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms, Following Too Closely, Improper Passing on the Left, Improper Passing on the Right, Open Container Containing Alcohol in Motor Vehicle, No Seat Belt, Driving on Suspended Driver’s License, Reckless Driving, Possession Controlled Substance Schedule VI 4OZ, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Fictious Tags, No Liability Insurance, Unsafe Vehicle-Defective Equipment, and Speeding-More Than 15MPH Over Limit.
