Final Fantasy V PS1 Review

Final Fantasy V is the 5th game in the Final Fantasy series that first appeared on the Super Famicon in Japan in 1992. The west did not see it until it was released in a collection for the Sony PlayStation in 1999 (PAL territories even later, in 2002). The game has seen multiple re-releases since, most recently, in the Pixel Remaster series that first appeared in 2021. Opting to focus more heavily on game mechanics than story, Final Fantasy V offers a light tale that's heavy on player decisions on how to utelise the myriad Jobs that the party come across, in order to tackle the various battle scenarios that the party face. Whilst we do venture to save the Crystals once more, the story is typically more light hearted and takes a back seat to the gameplay. Is Final Fantasy V worth playing today?
