Lash extension allergies explained

So many people have been reaching out toask about what caused them to have a reaction that made them stop getting eyelash extensions. So this post was a must. I've been getting my lashes done for 6 years & all of the sudden I developed a reaction (swollen lid that would later turn dry, itchy and red eyes and runny nose). Same adhesive. Same lash tech. I was so confused. I tried sensitive glue which worked for a while but a few months later I ended up with the same result. The culprit behind this is an ingredient called Cyanoacrylate. It is found in ALL lash adhesives, since it is responsible for converting the glue from liquid state to hard. Kind of like acrylic gel that dries and becomes your nail. Without it the glue would be just watery sticky substance which would not hold up your extensions. Unfortunately once you have a reaction, you will always have a reaction. But here is what you can do to avoid the inconvenience and suffering. 1) take a Benadryl or an Allegra right before your appointment 2) have your tech mist your lashes after application. Cyanoacrylate needs microscopic amounts of moisture to cure, this is why adhesives dry faster in humid treatment rooms 30-50% humidity. Once the adhesive cured it stops emitting fumes that are irritating your eyes. 3) put cream based (not oil) cortizone 10 on your lid right above your lash line and under the eye either throughout the 1st day and before bed. 4) take another antihistamine before bed that night 5) if you feel any burning sensation or itching that night, wash your lashes with lash shampoo (it will speed up curing) 6) ask your lash tech to try a clear adhesive on an off chance that you are allergic to carbon which is what gives the adhesive it’s black color.💋 #lashnightmare #lashfail #allergy #lashallergy #minklashes #mink #dmvlashqueen #valashes #dmvlashes #lashtech #lashandbrow #extentions #fullset #lashaddict #volumelashesdc #dmv #dmvmua #dmvlashes #dmvlashqueen #lashes #lashtech #lashlook #lashbar #lashextensions #lashaddict
