Today we’re going to be taking a deep dive into the new Casio PX-S6000 portable digital piano. We haven’t yet done an in-depth look at the actual user experience the S6000 offers, so that’s what today’s video is all about. Please like, subscribe and hit that notification bell! Overview The S6000 is an interesting beast because it combines functions and features from multiple categories of digital pianos. It’s receiving a new key action that has been received very positively by the industry as a whole. It’s a plastic-based action, but it’s outfitted with wooden sidings that really elevate the overall quality. The core acoustic piano tone is excellent, and there’s a total of 350 sounds with a consistently high level of fidelity. It’s also outfitted with 4 full-range speakers boasting a solid 32 watts of power. There are also stage piano-like real-time controls like a modulation wheel, a programmable modulation button, and two fully assignable knobs. With a slim case and light overall weight, the S6000 is a portable all-in-one digital piano built to compete with instruments like the Roland FP-60X and Yamaha P515. It’s entirely operable on AA batteries if you so wish, making it a truly versatile instrument. User Interface The first thing to know is that there are only a few modes where you’ll spend all your time navigating. You can select tones via the data wheel, and Sound Select allows you to choose from the 5 pages of Tone Categories. The core grand piano tone is the Hamburg Grand, which features complex 88-key sampling, and this gets its own category along with 2 variations. The rest of the pianos fall under a separate category, and while some are quite nice, the complexity of these patches is not on the same level as the Hamburg grand. Overall the display is very descriptive and large enough so that getting around this instrument is pretty straightforward overall. Closing Thoughts The PX-S6000 is a high-quality instrument that would work very well as a gigging piano, but at the same time, when paired with the stand, would also be a really stylish home piano as well.
