Dudley Moore writes jazz, pop music, jingles and advertisements and performs in jazz clubs, theatres and festivals. Peter Maxwell Davies writes "advanced, difficult" compositions that are critically lauded but frequently impenetrable to the casual listener, he subsidises his composing by working as a music teacher.
