Staff Daredevil Benchmark June 2023 - 40k

Crisis averted. Anet listened to us, and damn does it feel good. Compared to the balance update preview, Anet made one very important change: they dialed back on the buffs to Staff Strike and Staff Bash, and gave some of that power back to Punishing Strikes. The result is just about the same DPS as we predicted, but in a much healthier manner; I think we can all agree that we're glad to not have to cancel every single auto chain to do proper damage. Aside from that, the most important change is a rather simple one - the damage coefficient of Bound has been doubled from 1.75 to 3.5. This has major effects on the rotation, as this value was specifically selected so that dodging is more DPS than auto attacks with quickness, but still less DPS than Weakening Charge. This greatly alleviates the longstanding issue that dodging was a negative action that you only did to maintain the associated buffs. Endurance was, for the most part, a bad thing, which meant that the Daredevil traitline was antisynergystic with itself: traits like Endurance Thief and Brawler's Tenacity were punishing you instead of helping you... not to mention nearby Warrior's trolling your damage with "To the Limit!" Now, while you still need to be careful as to when your endurance bar ticks up, you generally want to seek out additional endurance, which leads us to our first relevant utility bar change (sorry Spider Venom, you don't count) since Daredevil released over seven years ago: Impairing Daggers! In addition to being a solid source of power damage, it also gives us a little bit of extra endurance thanks to Brawler's Tenacity. Furthermore, while you don't benefit from it on the benchmark due to the golem settings, it applies large amounts of Slow and Immobilize, which will increase your Exposed Weakness modifier in real raids as those generally don't have 100% uptime on the enemy. Another benefit to this new rotation is that you Steal during every burst, which will lead you to getting more of the strong raid steals. Unstable Artifact is the most common raid steal, and is now the best one; it is a solid DPS increase in addition to having great multipurpose utility between the immobilize, teleport, and downstate pull. Yes, Magnetic Bomb and Detonate Ectoplasm both got severely nerfed, but they both seem to still be DPS increases over autos, and they have great utility between the CC and the stab/aegis. And lastly, Soulstone Venom is insta cast damage/cleanse, which you'll never say no to. With all that said, it needs to be said that running Impairing Daggers means you don't have room to take situational utility skills, like Shadow Portal, Pitfall, or Haste (which I legit run in the majority of pugs I join these days.) If you need to take one of those drop Impairing Daggers and swap back to the old rotation, which functions just like we're used to. I gave it a bit of testing and easily reached 39.3k with Agility Signet, so don't just go and forget the old stuff; you'll definitely want to be swapping between these rotations as the situation calls for it. As a last note, we no longer need to flank on defiant foes, which applies on basically every non-structure boss. Cool, I guess. Log: https://www.dps.report/lo1Z-20230629-...
