In a desperate effort to save his dying son, Xu Wei has assembled a home laboratory to try and create a treatment for his child. The disease is incurable, and an experimental drug that could help ease his son’s symptoms is not available in China. Xu says he was left with no choice but to teach himself to recreate the drug.
