Thirteen-year-old Miranda is resilient. She has had a life-threatening cardiac condition since she was 2-days-old, undergoing two open-heart surgeries. At 11, she experienced a sudden cardiac arrest and suffered a brain injury. Doctors initially gave Miranda a poor prognosis for recovery. But she did recover, and slowly began learning how to walk again. When Miranda was offered the opportunity to have a wish granted, she asked to meet her her favorite reality TV star and baker, Buddy Valastro, the "Cake Boss." The teen and her family travel to New Jersey to Carlo's Bake Shop and the Lakawanna Center cake factory. When Buddy offers to make any cake design, Miranda suggests one featuring her two pet dogs, Lilly and Teddy. The finished cake is beautiful, a masterful work of art, and Miranda receives personalized tutoring to help with its creation.
