It's the oldest double-reed instrument in the world... and it's not the easiest thing in the world. When practiced enough, it's one of the most expressive instruments out there (in MY opinion). I've been able to pick out a few melodies, now that I've had it for a couple more days, so I'll be putting another video up at some point when I have a song down! I'm learning the Narnian Lullaby, The Force Theme from Star Wars, and Hedwig's Theme from Harry Potter! Please don't use my experience as an indicator of the quality of this instrument, especially because I've been able to produce some beautiful sounds in the 3 days I've had it... just... not the first time. haha! I got this Duduk on Amazon. The brand is Simon, and it's in the key of A. It came with 3 Duduk reeds, as well as a Clarinet mouthpiece and reed (which I'm more used to... if you couldn't tell haha). There IS an issue with buying Duduks here in the USA, usually... from what I hear, a lot of times sellers will buy toy Duduks in Armenia, and sell them for 50-100 bucks in the US. To my untrained self, this does NOT seem like one of those. It seems pretty quality to me! Not professional quality and I'll probably need better reeds to really make it sound great, but it seems nice to me! The reeds are interesting!! If they are too open or too closed, they won't make a sound. I also found that one of the reeds sounds fantastic, but I think it's harder than the others, and thus, more difficult to play. The easiest to play is also the one that needs more hemp wrapped around it because right now it keeps coming loose in the Duduk and keeps wanting to fall out.
