All Torc and No Trousers: Sacrifice and Ritual in Iron Age Britain

When the Romans first conquered Britain in 46 AD, they wrote of the grisly practices of the local people, from headhunting to human sacrifice. The picture they paint is a barbaric one, of bloodthirsty gods and vicious Druids, but how accurate are these accounts? Archaeologist Ellen Green returns to the Glencoe Library to dig up the truth about the ancient Celts. (And what is a "torc"? It's a neck ornament consisting of a band of twisted metals, worn especially by the ancient Gauls and Britons.
