I hope you all are getting as much sun as you can since this is the Summer season! I'm still doing what I gotta do in crash coursing and be a better composer but, I'm sure I can get there by practicing more and more. Anyways, I'm sure this was a bit surprising on my releasing something like this one my channel. Think of this as a filler episode before the next main episode comes out...you know like in manga, anime and all that jazz. This was something that I held on to for years because I didn't think releasing a first-ever mash up on this channel would be meaningful...& I don't want to be in trouble with the main folks and have strikes against me. But, I wanted to share this so...here it goes folks. As a person who knows what Sonic Riders is but, has never played the game an ounce in my life (maybe one day in the future I will), this has some killer OSTs. One of my main favorites is Splash Canyon...and still is to this day. Maybe it's because of the composition they came up with. Now...this is where the mashup idea comes in. So...2010 when I was in my undergrad & started learning more about music production, I had the idea of mashing up one of my fave songs from MAH GURL, Miss Mary J. Blige, Be Happy because of how much Splash Canyon reminded of her song. So...lo and behold...I was actually able to find the acapella of Be Happy! I took a few listens of Splash Canyon, figured out the tempo, slowed down Mary's vocals to fit the song & IT REALLY DOES FIT yall! I will say that this probably ain't the best mashup because of a lot of chopping and re-syncing some of the lyrics to stay in rhythm. In other words, some parts might sound a little off for a least just a second before getting back into right time. To add to that, I made the Splash Canyon OST to where it matches the length of Mary's song, for those that may not have noticed. Also, for nostalgic approach, as an to why I made Mary's pic, Sonic's pic...most of the color scheme blue, if you seen the Be Happy music video, I wanted to bring that feeling.
