Hiking the Skye Trail in Isle of Skye, Scotland in June 2021. The Skye trail is an unofficial 127km long-distance hiking route from Broadford to Rubha Hunish, going through the infamous Trotternish Ridge, Quiraing and the scenic Old Man of Storr. Not the easiest of UK's many long-distance hiking routes and the Skye Trail is definitely not recommended for a beginner, as the weather can be brutal and the trail isn't waymarked at all. Especially the ridge is potentially dangerous in bad weather without any shelter or facilities (or visibility, for that matter). We got lucky this time! It was our second attempt after failing to hike the whole trail in 2019 due to high winds on the ridge. This time we decided to not walk the trail end-to-end but picked whatever sections we wanted, which allowed us to hike and wildcamp the parts of the ridge we missed the last time. Plus we got to see the enchanting Fairy Glen which you can see at 13:30 and the dinosaur footprints, neither of which are actually on the trail.
