I ran the Umstead Trail Marathon as a supported long training run for the Umstead 100 in about a month. It was the first day that the temperature rose above 60 degrees during one of my longer runs. That made it a good learning and information gathering experience for how much water and Tailwind I would need for the 100 miler. I was also supposed to practice my pacing for the first 25 miles of the 100 but I ended up pushing too hard up the hill. It didn't come back to bite me during the marathon but it was definitely too fast for the 100. It was a great race with lots of old friends, new friends I met during the event, and amazing volunteers!
