I have always thought these motorcycles were very interesting and distinctive because they were different than all the others. It’s that difference that attracts me to them. The HONDA TRANSALP is no exception. I believe one of the most under rated motorcycles of its time. Because it was so different motorcyclists of the time were not quite sure what they should do with it. Should they ride it mostly on the road? Should they ride it mostly in the dirt? These were questions HONDA answered with the XL600V TRANSALP, but motorcyclist in the United States didn’t understand the answer to the questions. Therefore, motorcyclist in the United States were the ones who lost, while European countries were the ones who gained.
