How to teach your horse to stop pulling back on the lead rope

One of the biggest problems with a lot of horses is pulling away from the lead rope whether you are holding it or have the horse tied off. Joe shows you the best way to get your horse to stop pulling away from you and the lead rope. In this short 5 minute video you can literally see Joe solving this annoying and dangerous problem of a horse pulling back and away from you. At the start of the video you can see when the horse gets scared or nervous he pulls back much harder than at the end of the video. By teaching your horse to come towards you in an unnerving situation you teach them to not pull back. Joe's recommendation is to do this training for a few minutes fairly regularly to break the habit and teach your horse to stop pulling back. You don't need much equipment as you can see Joe only uses a stick & string, a halter and a 12 ft long lead rope. Watch Joe move the stick & string all around the horse he is training to keep constant pressure. It is important to use a long lead rope to allow yourself some room for when your horse inevitably pulls away.
