Inside Chinese Korean Borderland 🍡 Food, traditional costume experience and local life snapshot

Yanji is the capital city of Yanbian Chinese Korean Autonomous Region. The city is only an hour drive away from the China - North Korea checkpoint. Many locals here are the Chaoxian (Chinese Korean) ethnic people, they speak a dialect of Korean, which sounds harsher than the South Korean accents. As you might notice in the video, dual languages are used for most of the signs. For a few days in Yanji, I experienced Hánfú韩服. This is unique to the Chinese Korean and is different from South Korean's. A note is that despite the same alphabets, Hànfú汉服 is different and is the costume for the Han people (the major ethnicity in China). Food in this region illustrates the mix living conditions of the Northeastern Han people and the Chaoxian people. We tried several traditional cuisines from both sides and are absolutely in love with Guobaorou (Northeastern cuisine) and Barbecue (Chaoxian cuisine).
