Scrapbook With Your Cricut: Optical Illusions | VB Where To Next

Hello friends! TGIF! Thanks for visiting my channel today. I hope my layout inspired you! Truth be told, I had it in my head that this pocket page was four 3x4 pockets with cards in them, when in reality, it’s actually two 6x4 cards. (I can’t believe I forgot between creating my layout and recording the voiceover…it was only 24 hours apart 😅). It’s actually what inspired my video title- if I could fool myself into thinking there’s four 3x4 cards, others would likely think the same. So, how did I create this optical illusion? I started with cardstock that I trimmed to 6x4 inches (twice). The background is the same between both 6x4 cards- meaning, the striped, grid and polka dot papers were glued to the base card in the same manner. The only difference: the patterned papers in card A spans the width of the entire card, whereas in card B, the patterned papers are visible on one half. There’s no point in putting paper where it won’t be seen! Next, I glued two mats measuring 2.75x3.75 inches side by side on nournal card A. The first mat contains the title, which was shaded in using a mint colored alcohol marker; I used the same marker to shade in the VW bus that was attached to the second mat (on the same card). To fill the empty space in this mat, I created a scene that illustrates the story I’m documenting: shuttling the twins and their friends around town. You know- mom’s taxi- style. The scene includes trees with the sun in the background, and grey card stock with dashed lines on it symbolizing the yellow lines that are standard on roadways. By gluing the two mats to the top of the card, I inadvertently created the illusion of two 3x4 pocket cards that are side by side. The same mat is found in the second journal card; it contains the journaling and some chipboard embellishments from Vicki B. The 3x4 photo on the other half of this card achieved the same trick of the eye: it also appears to be 3x4 cards that are side by side. So, what do you think? Were you fooled too, or was it just me?
