Hereford Trip: Part 4 Hay-On-Wye & Goodbye

During my charity trip in March 2024, I had a rest day in Hereford and decided I liked the place and so in May headed back for a few days to check out some of the local area. I stayed at the Hereford Rowing Club campsite for 5 nights, which was a great way to learn how my body may deal with multi day trips. Thus far, my wild camps have been solo overnighters; so this was a good way to become more familiar with kit and how I like things set out over a longer period of time. This isn't the most dynamic adventure you'll ever see. Hereford isn't exactly the outdoor capital of the UK and my health isn't enabling me to particularly thrive atm. However, I think it's important to share the realities of enjoying the outdoors with health conditions and the journey of discovering how CFS and epilepsy shape the adventures I have. I had a great time (as you'll see) and looking forward to heading back soon! Key Kit I used: TENT: Nature Hike Cloud Up 2, Polyester version. SLEEPING BAG: Nemo Forte 35 womens SLEEPING PAD: Big Agnes Rapide petite (2024 version) PILLOW: Decathlon trek pillow LARGE RUCKSACK: Osprey Womens Kyte 66ltr DAYPACK: Lowe alpine Aeon 25ND. RAB have taken over this rucksack and the new one doesn't fit my small torso length. Boo! HIKING BASELAYER: RAB force SS, and a second hand Icebreaker merino SS from Ebay. HIKING TROUSERS: Berghaus Embira Leggings, Craghopper Kiwi stretch (had these over 15 years). SOCKS: Darn Tough mid height merino, kids size Bridgedale merino Stove: Jetboil Micromo Fry pan: Firemaple non stick Plate: Lifesystems purple plate...it's a good size. Cutlery: UCO Switch. The best spork and knife combo I've come across. Even cuts steak!
