The Islander - Nightwish (cover) | Lorelai

In this video I combined my two loves - Nightwish and Scottish highlands. I can only hope that Troy and Marco see this, as they have been a constant source of awe and inspiration. Thank you! This June I was in Scotland again, this time purely for hiking. I walked all over Isle of Skye, from north to south. And for the entire week and half this song played on repeat in my head. It fit the island so well... I felt like the person in the song, sitting on cliffs and listening to tides. I decided I would make a cover. But, to do the song justice, I finally bit it and learned how to work with MIDIs and VSTs. My Words Unspoken bandmate Diego was a great help and I am very proud of the string orchestra arrangement. It took ages to make it sound just right. Then came the actual acoustic recording. Guitar solo sliced my fingers raw for a week until I got it right and my new folklore bagpipe wasn't very cooperative either... And on top of it all, all videos I took in Scotland turned out very green and it was quite a struggle to make them look at least slightly normal-colored. Tuning in original song is drop B, in my cover drop E (since I transposed everything to fit my voice range). You definitely cannot have any sheet music. Sorry.
