The Dolomitenmann is an extreme sports relay race taking place in the Lienz Dolomites in Austria, near the city of Lienz. This video shows all the paraglider takeoffs at Kühbodentörl in the Lienzer Dolomites at an altitude of about 2500m above sea level. The takeoff field is mainly consisting of loose stones and scree and therefore it is very demanding. Also, most of the pilots use quite small paragliders and harnesses specially designed for hike & fly. These miniwings are flying much faster than "normal" paragliders and react more dynamically to the pilot's steering inputs. Together with the physical exhaustion through running and hiking the paraglider pilots have a very tough task to do, and even watching is a real thrill! Write a comment with timestamp and the athletes name. Thank you! The race is started in Lienz by a mountain runner who then makes the hand-off to the team's paraglider at Kühbodentörl. Carrying his whole equipment, the paraglider must run to the first take-off point. After descending by air and landing at Moosalm, the paraglider runs to a second take-off point, descending to the Dolomitenstadion near Lienz. In the stadion now the mountain biker starts his tough task, and finally the team's kayaker finishes the so-called "world's toughest team relay race".
