Lord Egerton Castle Documentary - (Egerton University) by Melody Bosibori

The Documentary is all about a brief history of Loard Egerton Castle which was built many years ago by Lord Egerton which was later named lord Egerton Castle. The surrounding grounds is well designed with beautiful and colorful gardens and is now being used by the locals for wedding parties, team buildings, dinner, play site for kids, attraction center for schools, . When Lord Egerton died in 1958, most of his furniture, etc was shipped back to England. Then most of what remained behind was looted by residents in the area. Knowledgeable guides will show you around and explain many innovative features of the castle. Be sure to get the story of Egerton's unrequited love; it's such a sad tale. He was one of the early pilots and a friend of the Wright brothers. You can carry a picnic and enjoy it on the expansive lawn or in the garden area just before the entrance. The Castle provides guided tours and if you are a resident at the ARC Hotel - Njoro, you do not pay any charges. The Guide is knowledgeable about Lord Egerton's history. The site could however maximize its potential by having a restaurant or a good coffee shop on its grounds to offer its visitors something else especially since it is quite out of the way. The place is gorgeous and reeking of history. Maintenance however is at bare minimum which is a shame because the place has great potential to be a world class tourist attraction. Nevertheless worth a visit for picnics especially with small children. You can find a nice spot under a tree and enjoy the countryside. The Currently the castle is managed by Egerton University
