Reverse Discrimination? It doesn't exist...but 'tokenism' does. | Antoinette Lattouf | TEDxSydney

Over the past decade, work, sporting and education sectors have faced a growing push to implement Diversity & Inclusion policies to combat structural inequality and racism. But with mixed results and misguided intentions, there is a growing pushback against these policies that are seen as tokenistic and lead to claims of 'reverse discrimination' against non-diverse people. So, is it time to shelve D&I initiatives? Should we be concerned about reverse discrimination? Antoinette Lattouf is a multi-award winning journalist and the co-founder of Media Diversity Australia, a not for profit organisation working towards increasing cultural and linguistic diversity in the media. She’s worked in commercial television, online and radio across Australia. Antoinette’s first book ‘How to Lose Friends and Influence White People’ was published in May 2022. It is a witty and approachable anti-racism guide and an honest exploration of the modern manifestations of systemic racism in Australia today, and how we, as a collective, can take steps to make change.
