A Vietnam Story: From Hell to Hope

From Hell to Hope is the story of a Copper Basin, Alaska, Vietnam veteran who experienced some of the toughest conditions and fiercest fighting during the Vietnam War. In 1968, 18-year-old Versailles, Ohio, boy Neil Hannan enlisted in the U.S. Army. This film follows his journey from a stock boy/carry-out boy at a local grocery store through basic and advanced infantry training to when he joined his company in Vietnam at Landing Zone Colt, south of the demilitarized zone, where he served in the 196th light infantry brigade. Shortly after his tour began, Hannan rescued a 12-year-old Vietnamese girl from certain death. He was reunited with the girl in 2010 during a tour of his old battlegrounds and decided to help rebuild her home and provide desperate medical care to alleviate her suffering. Gradually, Neil expanded his humanitarian program to help disabled people and poor children. From Hell to Hope is a story of one man who used war's dark power to bring light to a war-torn region in Vietnam.
