The Water Song ~ The Nibi Song

The Nibi Song was brought into this time by myself, Dorene Day-Waubanewquay, and my grandson, Omashkoonce/Jose Santos McCauley in 2006. It was at the International Water Conference in Hopkins, MN in April of 2005, while attending the conference with Mother Earth Water Walk founder, Grandmother Josephine Mandamin 'ibun. It was when I heard Dr. Massaru Emoto speak the International Water Prayer: Water, we love you, we thank you, we respect you! As my grandson and I would drive to and from school/work, we began to say the water prayer each day. Then months later Omashkoonce said "How do we say that in our own language'? So we found the Ojibwe words through my daughter Alana D. through her language teacher Dan Jones 'ibun at Fond Du Lac Tribal College. After we received the words, we began to say: "Nibi, Giizaage "igoo Gii miigwetch ahwayn nimiigoo Giizhaawayn nimiigoo" Again, some months later, Omashkoonce said" Why don't we just sing that to the water? The song came out, and we have been singing it every since..
