Mail on Sunday columnist Peter Hitchens says the West “should be careful what they wish for” after the Wagner mutiny in Russia. Speaking to TalkTV’s Kevin O’Sullivan, Peter recalls his time spent as a foreign correspondent in Moscow during the attempted coup against Mikhail Gorbachev in 1991. He adds: “There seems to be a belief that if Putin falls he’ll be replaced by Andy Pandy or Goldilocks… Whoever replaces him may be worse.” Yevgeny Prigozhin, leader of the Wagner mercenary army, called off his assault on Moscow after an extraordinary 24 hours in which his forces seized one of Russia’s biggest cities and came within 120 miles of the capital. Regular troops had set up defensive positions on the edge of the city, including a machine-gun post in the southwest, as President Putin faced the most serious challenge of his 23 years in power. #russia #wagner #putin #talktv #talkradio
