Bolton Valley - Alta Vista to Sherman's Pass to Bull Run to Bear Run

Alta Vista to Sherman's Pass to Bull Run to Bear Run is a ski run of varying difficulties located at Bolton Valley Resort. The trails run from the summit of Vista Peak, down to the main base area. The run starts to the skier's right of the top of the Vista Quad chairlift on Alta Vista, an intermediate trail. The trail quickly turns to the right, entering into a series of short drops, with a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. Eventually, the trail flattens out and merges onto Sherman's Pass, a beginner trail. Sherman's Pass is mellow and runs straight before sharply curving 90 degrees to the left and running straight again. Not long after this curve, I exit the trail to the right onto Bull Run, another beginner trail. The trail is narrow and features just one small dip before entering the infamous Vista runout near the top of the Mid Mountain chairlift. Here, I traversed across the intersection onto Bear Run, another beginner trail. Bear Run is a gentle trail that makes one very long and gradual swoop to the right before arriving at the main base area. Bolton Valley Resort is a ski area located in Bolton, Vermont. The ski area is located in Eastern Chittenden County on the western edge of the Green Mountains, just south of the state's highest peak, Mount Mansfield, which is visible from points at the resort. The resort is an easy drive from Vermont's largest city, Burlington, and its capital, Montpelier, which are both located about 30 minutes away. The ski resort is located at the top of a long and steep access road and boasts the highest base elevation of a ski area in Vermont. The ski area is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, local vibe, and for being home to some of the only night skiing in Vermont. The resort is split across 3 unique peaks: Wilderness, the original peak at the resort, is known for its all-natural snow, minimal grooming, and quiet setting; Vista, the resort's primary peak, is home to a wide variety of trails from groomers to bumps and has terrain for all ability levels and is home to Bolton's learning terrain and night skiing operations; and Timberline, located below the rest of the resort Timberline is known as a convenient place to park as well as for its less crowded terrain which consists of a variety of mostly intermediate and advanced trails. The ski area is owned by the original family which opened it in 1966 and is a partner on the Indy Pass, granting pass holders 2 days each at the ski area.
