Diffusion: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/dialysis... If you are new to dialysis, a nursing student, or new nurse, I know you have QUESTIONS about Conductivity settings on the dialysis machine, why theymatter, and why we use conductivity profiles for some of our dialysis patients. You may even have CONCERNS. But you can stop worrying because that's why I created this video. I want you to be INFORMED. I also want you to be RELAXED. So let's address YOUR CONCERNS. By watching these video, you'll likely have a much better UNDERSTANDING of the ANSWERS to your QUESTIONS about Conductivity settings on the dialysis machines. In dialysis u will her the term conductivity, a lot. And the term can be confusing, until we break it down. I am going to discuss: 1. What conductivity means 2. How we use conductivity in dialysis 3. How we used conductivity to help remove fluid in some of our patients 4. Reasons we wouldn’t use conductivity profiles What is conductivity: The term conductivity: we think electrical activity. And what makes water conductive is NA. Conductivity is sodium And what do we know about Sodium (Na) 1. Wherever Sodium goes, water goes 2. Normal Serum/blood sodium levels are 135-145 3. Rule of diffusion: molecules will move from an area of high concentration to lower concentration. 4. Osmosis: movement of fluid from an area of low concentration to high concentration U til the concentration is equal These are things that we know to be true, and will help Us understand conductivity profiles in dialysis Dialysate: Dialysis acid, Sodium Bicarbonate, Purified Water The Dialyzer- semipermeable membrane The blood stream/vascular space Extravascular space—- We have edema/fluid in the lungs—- 00:00 Conductivity = Sodium 00:50 Rules of Sodium 01:08 Diffusion & Osmosis 02:08 Conductivity Visuals 03:50 Fluid Overload Cycle 05:40 Conductivity Profiles 08:49 Why Wouldn't We use Conductivity Profiles? 10:37 Closing Song DISCLAIMER: This video is intended for education purposes only and is not intended as medical advice DISCLAIMER: Links included in this description might be affiliate links.
