Women's 3000m Steeplechase Prefontaine Classic. Diamond League. Hayward Field, Eugene, OR, USA 8/21

The Women's Steeplechase event kicked off at 13:12 (local time) at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, USA. The temperature range that day was between 13°C - 26°C (55°F - 78°F), the City of Eugene is located at an altitude of 131 meters (430 feet) above sea level. Eugene also known as "Track Town USA", is a city known for its green spaces, and its recreational possibilities. Hayward Field is a Stadium intended specifically to carry out Track & Field events. The Women's Steeplechase featured a Star-Studded field of highly decorated athletes. Thirteen athletes in total including the Pace Maker (Rosefline Chepngetich, Kenya), nine of them Tokyo Olympians: Regan Yee (Canada), former University of Idaho Vandal Alycia Butterworth (Canada), the remaining seven were Olympic Finalists: former Princeton University Tiger Elizabeth Bird (Great Britain), Mekides Abebe (Ethiopia), Gesa Krause (Germany), Winfred Yavi (Bahrain), the Olympic Bronze Medalist Hyvin Kiyeng Jepkemoi (Kenya), the Olympic Silver Medalist Courtney Frerichs (USA), the Olympic Champion Peruth Chemutai (Uganda). Side Note: Chemutai is the first Ugandan woman ever to win an Olympic Medal in any sport. End Side Note. Former University of New Mexico Lobo Courtney Frerichs (USA) showed that her form from the Olympic Games was in ascension, Frerichs and Norah Jeruto (Kenya) managed to distance the field, with the Kenyan managing to get the best out of Frerichs. Both Keruto and Frerichs ran the course in under 9 minutes, a milestone in this event. For Olympic Silver Medalist Courtney Frerichs (USA) her finishing time of 8:57.77 was a Continental Record, and a Personal Best, it represented a decrease in time of 0.569% with respect to her previous mark of 9:00.85 (July 2018) For Norah Jeruto her winning time of 8:53.65 was a Personal Best, a World Leading, and a Meet Record. °C = degrees Celsius °F = degrees Farenheit % = Percent PB = Personal Best WL = World Leading (the best mark achieved worldwide during the season) MR = Meet Record AR = Area (or Continental) Record SB = Season's Best (Best Mark achieved by the athlete during the season) PM = Pace Maker DNF = Did Not Finish The Competitors in the Women's 3000m Steeplechase and their Finishing Times: 1.
