Blackwell Festival - 'Flower Power' - June 2019

What started as a damp (positively pouring) beginning, ended-up a typical Blackwell Festival with the sun shining on all the free spirits. Or, was it something the hippies were smoking! The theme was 'Flower Power' with the groovy villagers all dolled-up from clothes found at the back of the wardrobe. Nice. Gazebo's hoisted, cakes judged and flowers planted in the hair – we all had a far-out experience. The Village Vineyards mobile stand served nectar while the refreshments tent offered an alternative with cake. All to the sweet sounds of the our own Blackwell Concert Band. Pete 'Yeh Man' Hobbs, together with the Cool Beatniks, ensured the community 'Made Love, Not War', metaphorically speaking. Topped and tailed with the fancy dress, best tent, the cake comp and finally the spirited races and enthusiastic tug 'o war.
