7 Male Lions | A New Coalition Rises | Lion Sands | South Africa | Kruger National Park

A new group of seven male lions has made landfall at Lion Sands, spending most of their time on the Kruger National Park side. The coalition of seven is made up of six Nkuhlu males and one Delaporte male. These males have already made a name for themselves by killing one of the lionesses from the Sand River pride and feeding on her. This is an uncommon occurrence in the animal kingdom, but not unfamiliar to us, as the Mapogo coalition was well-known for doing the same. They have ventured into the Sabi Sand and encountered the Gijima Male Coalition. For now, the Gijimas stand strong, but it will be an interesting time for lion dynamics in the Sabi Sand and Southern Kruger if these males stick together.
