This DIVIDEND STOCK STRATEGY Paid Off (Big Time!)

I bought a dividend stock just about 6 months ago that is projected to be up 28.55% over the first year (assuming stable go-forward stock price and all dividends received). I'm very pleased with my investment in Altria (MO) last December, and I'm even more pleased with my unique dividend stock account strategy that I employed. I'm excited to share a few unique account structure strategies in the video today that I've been thinking about. #dividend #stock #investing 0:00 INTRODUCTION 0:01 This was a huge week for me. I received several dividend checks. One was the largest payout I have ever received in a single day! 0:27 I'm speaking about the dividend I received from Altria (MO). 0:40 Why would a dividend investor want to own a single stock, across several accounts? (The strategy discussed in today's video.) 1:29 "Ian, that didn't age well." The stock today did age well! 1:38 SEGMENT 1: ALTRIA (MO) DIVIDEND STOCK ANALYSIS 1:50 My number 4 largest position, eclipsing McDonalds (MCD). 2:05 My 12/28 (massive) Altria (MO) dividend stock trade. 3:00 I locked in a 9.75% dividend yield with my huge trade. 3:20 Today, as of 7/12, I’m up 18.8% in equity capital appreciation. 4:30 EPS estimates are trending up (the company does not seem to be going away as so many think). 4:59 My strategy at this time is to get a complete return on my invested capital via the dividend, de-risking the position. (10 year horizon.) 5:45 The starting yield is now 8.21%, which is still not bad. But, my yield-on-cost is 9.75%. 6:16 EPS is growing! 6:47 SEGMENT 2: MULTIPLE STOCK ACCOUNTS (FOR THE SAME STOCK) STRATEGY 7:07 I own Altria (MO) in two different brokerage accounts. 1 account is used for selective reinvestment. 1 account is used for paying bills. 8:01 The large trade last December is earmarked for paying bills (it's in a separate account, which makes it easy for me to keep track of my dividends for paying bills). 9:45 This two-account structure for MO has greatly simplified my life, including my records. 10:18 SEGMENT 3: MY SELECTIVE REINVESTMENT 10:30 Corner Patreon Zoom Meet-Up Soon! 11:08 I reinvested into British American (BTI) 11:26 I'm contemplating making this as large as MO. 11:56 Forward PE is at a 7 12:04 Low single digit growth (revenue and adjusted operating profit) 12:16 9.29% starting dividend yield (with 65% payout ratio) 12:46 KEY POINT: These stocks, MO and BTI, are very risky given their industry. 13:13 SEGMENT 4: ALTRIA (MO) MODEL 13:29 My return on the tranche I bought late last year could be 28.55% return! 14:02 SEGMENT 5: UNCONVENTIONAL DIVIDEND INVESTING ACCOUNT STRUCTURE IDEAS 14:16 STRATEGY: 1 account is for "forever" holdings. 1 account is for is to possibly be sold for major expenses (buying a house). 16:59 STRATEGY: 1 account is for "forever" holdings. 1 accounts is for writing covered calls. (Stock could get called away.) 19:34 DISCLOSURE AND DISCLAIMER DISCLOSURE: I am long Altria (MO), British American (BTI), McDonalds (MCD), and Starbucks (SBUX). I own these stocks in my personal dividend stock portfolio.
