Last Friday, Cindy and Merlene, the daughters of the legendary Merle Travis unveiled the headstones at the burial site for both Merle Travis and his son Thom Bresh at the Ebeneezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Muhlenberg County, Ky. A small group of family and friends in attendance were treated with some great thumbpicking by some of the best including from left to right : Scott Taylor, Paul Moseley, Alonzo Pennington Eddie's son, Caleb Coots Eddies grandson, Billy Harlan and Eddie Pennington. They ended with two of Merle's favorites Cannonball Rag and one he ended most of his shows with, I'll See You in My Dreams, which is also my favorite. Alonzo's daughter Vaughan Marie sang it and did a great job.. I apologize for all the traffic noise, the monuments are right by the highway. If you look closely you can see two very familiar faces in the world of thumbpicking. John Knowles and Jody Maphis.
