There are two varieties of mesh, one is absorbable mesh that we put inside the abdomen in laparoscopic surgery. The other is a proline mesh, one is biological and the other is a proline mesh. Now w e have a new mesh called a s the titanium mesh too, which is available and we use it for laparoscopic surgery. What is mesh? It is like a mosquito net and you have threads around and it is a square box and in between our body fibers, we call it as a fibrous tissue, has to come in and completely take over the mesh. As such mesh can cause problems only within 5 days you know you have reaction to the mesh, which is very rare, but few cases have been reported all over the world causing some problem by reaction. Very few cases have been reported. But we have seen problems casing not because of the mesh, but problems causing due to adhesions happening due to surgery. So this is very common with every abdominal surgeries that we do. So there are adhesions , twisting of the intestines obstructions, all this happens becau e one of your intestines or your omentum went to the abdominal surface and got stuck. So if that happens then you can have complications due to hernia repair surgery. So sometimes they say something called as mesh migration. So I the mesh can migrate and below that area if the abdominal wall is weak, the individual can develop hernia also. The recurrence of hernia can happen. But we have seen such cases happening.
