Medieval Lincoln Cathedral : 6 Hidden Gems and maybe the most grotesque tomb you will ever see

Lincoln Cathedral has many names. It is sometimes referred to as Lincoln Minster, others as the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Lincoln and occasionally St Mary's Cathedral. Whatever you call it, it can be agreed it is one of the most impressive buildings in England. It is the fourth largest Cathedral in England and once claimed to be the tallest building in the world. Construction began in 1072 when the first Bishop Remigius de Decamp started work. An earthquake in 1185 destroyed the original building. Hugh of Avalon, another Bishop of Lincoln, rebuilt the Cathedral, and it was finally completed in 1235. The Cathedral is well known for the famous Lincoln Imp and housing the tomb of Eleanor of Castile, the Queen of Edward I. This video highlights six "hidden gems" of Lincoln Cathedral. 1. The Gallery of Kings above the West Door 2. The Shrine of Little Hugh 3. Lincoln Cathedral Chapter House 4. The Tomb of Katherine Sywnford 5. The Trondheim Pillars 6. Bishop Richard Fleming's Grotesque Cadaver Tomb
