Hygge Harmony Choir performing Remembrance at Brantham, 29.6.2024

29th June 2024 was Armed Forces day here in the U.K. The Hygge Harmony Choir were invited to perform at a local event in Brantham, Suffolk. They chose seven pieces of music to sing and the last one performed was 'Remembrance.' Although they didn't have a full choir on the day they still sounded very good. ....With apologies for the camera man's efforts. Remembrance was composed by Nigel Everett and the words were written by Tony Mills. The piece of music evolved from back in 1994 when Nigel visited the Commonwealth cemetery at Ooosterbeek, Arnhem, in the Netherlands. The grave of soldier Alfred Guthrie who was killed in the week long battle for the area in September 1944, 'operation 'Market Garden,' was Nigel's inspiration to creating the song. The bravery of the 1st British Airborne Division in the failed operation is legendary. After the week long battle and their retreat the Dutch civilians were treated appallingly by the German Army. They were evicted from the area and many starved in what became known as the 'Hunger Winter.'https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_f...
