A new playground kicks off a broader partnership in Detroit to put the needs of kids first

On a crisp, autumn day in Detroit, Michigan, volunteers constructed a new, 10,000 sq. foot playspace at Stein Park in the Cody Rouge neighborhood. The special day, and state-of-the-art playspace, was the result of months of partnership building between the City of Detroit, KABOOM!, Ralph C. Wilson JR. Foundation, The Skillman Foundation, General Motors, Quicken Loans and the Cody Rouge Community Action Alliance. KABOOM! works with city agencies to address challenges in education, youth engagement and neighborhood revitalization using our signature community build model. We drive investment into prioritized neighborhoods and facilitate community engagement for kids, teens and community members. The result of that partnership and coalition building is a high-energy, “build day” that engages hundreds of volunteers and is planned and led by members of the community.
