Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s favorite song, "Precious Lord, Take My Hand," was often performed at rallies during the Civil Rights Era and was sung at Dr. King's funeral by the famed singer, Mahalia Jackson. Ms. Jackson was a protégé of the great Chicago Blues and Gospel pioneer, Thomas A. Dorsey, who modified an existing tune and added his own text to create this now internationally famous and beloved song. The UIC Chamber Choir humbly offers this performance as an amplification of Dr. King's message of peace, justice, equality.
