DIY Radon Fan & Sump Cover Mitigation Install

Everyone needs to be aware of the hidden, odorless, deadly gas radon. We had this issue here. This gas is in the soil from decaying uranium and comes out through the soil but can get trapped in our houses. If exposed long enough and to high enough levels it's believed to cause human cancers like lung cancer, leukemia, etc. Whether you're buying a new home, renovating an old one or have lived there a long vs a short time, please have your place checked for radon. Not everyone has a high radon level but depending on where you live you might. House structure or age has little to do with the gas other than trapping it under the concrete and it leaking up into your living space. The tests are simple and can be bought at any hardware store so for your family's sake test. We tested four times, two short tests and two longer tests. Make sure you follow the directions on the tests to get the most accurate results. If your level is higher than the World Health Organization standard of 2.7pCi/L, then we think you should take the time to invest in a radon mitigation system. Note: the EPA recommends under 4.0pCi/L for USA only, the rest of the world goes by the WHO number. Your results might vary and these systems can be installed in many ways but we hope this video might show how it worked for us. It's obviously best to check all local codes and hire, if able, a licensed radon contractor to install these systems to prevent issues like radon leaking back into the home, flooding and/or other issues. But if done right it can be a DIY project with help via contractors. Take your time, get estimates, learn about the problem and make educated choices.
