Let's Craft: Library Book Nook

Hi there! :D This week, I'll show you a very cute project that was made as a birthday gift to a fellow bookworm friend of mine. She's mentioned before how much she liked book nooks, so I took that as my cue to get working :D I looked at a few designs online, but nothing could really peak my interest enough to make a copy. So I finally got around to making my own design. I wanted to focus on a cozy, warm feel and of course as many books as possible. It shouldn't be too neat, but I knew early on that I wanted to sort the books roughly by color. This was the first project I completed after my big break, so it's a little less structured than other videos. I tried to sort the files into some kind of a sensible order lol. But I feel like you still get the idea of how to build your own version if you want to :D It felt really good being back in the workshop, even though I had gotten rusty. Turns out muscle memory is a thing when building things, so I often fumbled with where to place what and with having to think two or three steps ahead so I had pieces ready to grab. That got better by the decorating stage, however, so I think it's like riding a bike. I specifically wanted to start with a miniature (well aside from the fact that a birthday present is time sensitive, lol) because it seemed less daunting than the large mask and prop projects that were still on my drafting table. If you want to recreate this build or something with your own twist, you will find measurements in the video or down below, as well as a list of all the things used. As I'm still struggling my way through a very new life, I'll try to schedule a video every other Friday. So hopefully I'll see you here again very soon :D Don't forget to like and subscribe if you haven't already! *** Materials and measurements for the room box: 4mm birch wood sheets 2 pieces – back panel and door (if you want one): 8 x 15 cm 2 pieces – sides: 15 x 21 cm 2 pieces – bottom and ceiling: 9 x 21 cm craft sticks however many shelves you like, length 8 cm for the back and 15 cm for the sides coffee stirrers craft cardboard acrylic paint PVA glue (wood glue like „Elmer's“ or „Ponal“) materials and measurements for the books: paper scraps for the pages (I used random misprints and old letters) printed book covers (use the google magic pls) scaled to 18mm or 20mm height (for variation) PVA glue paper glue stick additional decor: wooden chair 4mm birch wood 5mm foam board 2 pieces – 2,5 x 2,5 cm felt or fabric (color of choice) lights (store bought pack) plants (leftovers from dollhouse kit, check out my TXT video if you want flowers!) hanging vines (made from green moss mixed with PVA glue) window backing salvaged from a magazine (since it's glossy print there's no need for plastic window panes :D) mini newspaper (printed from google) framed pictures (from a dollhouse kit, you can also print any pics from google or draw some) tools: craft knife ruler saw paper clamps or clothespins dremel (or manual files) hot glue gun
