Reappraising Castlevania: Curse of Darkness - A Retrospective Review

For Halloween of this year, I decided to take a look back at my favorite of the 3D Castlevania games, Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, to see just how well it holds up. The 3D Castlevania games are well known for their less-than-stellar reputation, but I've been claiming that if any of them is undeserving of that reputation, it's Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. But how well does this game actually hold up? Was I right all along, or is it really a case of rose tinted glasses?
