An ironic homage to Parisian café society, which takes off in a bright and lively clip, lightly launching one dazzling musical motif after another. Using the delightful melodies of composer Jacques Offenbach and the book by Count Etienne de Beaumont as ingredients, Leonide Massine, a world-renowned dancer and choreographer, created the ballet in 1938 for the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. This production, which translates all the effervescence of Offenbach's music into dance, was a spectacular success and the ballet continues to be enthusiastically received. ** COMPLETE PRESENTATION: LOOK THE FIRST PINNED COMMENT ** Georges Bizet and Jacques Offenbach PLAYLIST (reference recordings):    • Georges Bizet (1838-1875) Jacques Off...
