Pyzel Mid length Crisis Surfboard Review

Ian Reviews the Midlength Crisis https://www.boardshop.co.uk/brands/py... It's here at last, and the choice of which mid length to add to your quiver just got a little bit harder, the Pyzel Mid Length Crisis surfboard is an essential for any serious surfer. The Mid Length Crisis is a great looking board to compete with the likes of the CI Mid or Skindog Ova and given Jon Pyzel's track record on boards in the last few years you know its going to work! The board is an easy paddling but responsive and loose feeling mid, bags of glide for weaker waves but all the performance drive and gold you need when conditions improve. You can surf this board in anything from knee to overhead waves. Flattish rocker, forward wide point, meat under the chest and nicely foiled rails, all the boxes are well and truly ticked. The spiral vee concave and curvy outline help the board move from rail to rail relatively easily so even for lower level surfers you can get the board moving. As always the quality of finish is outstanding, only the best materials are permitted by Pyzel. the glassing is a 4oz bottom with 6/4oz deck for added strength, the minimal extra weight this carries does the board no hard at all in terms of drive and speed. Fin wise its a 2 + 1 set up, you can ride as a single of course but a standard 6.5" to 7.5" single fin with sides bites will work depending on the length of board and your weight. Sizing your Mid Length Crisis is pretty straightforward...think about what you want the board to do for you, and the kind of waves you'll be surfing it in, a good example is Ian here who has ordered a 6' 10 at 41.9 litres to maximise wave count through the winter but still be able to get it turning. If you are coming down from a longboard then go bigger for an easier transition but as always we're here to help with any questions. If you're considering the Mid Length Crisis as your first proper mid lengths board or if you want a more forgiving ride, then you'll need to go a little longer to get the required volume. Jon Pyzel was raised in California, Santa Barbara to be exact and first started surfing while in junior high. Jon soon became hooked on surfing and was riding boards shaped by Carpinteria and Rincon Designs legend Matt Moore. Matt put Jon on his team and always took time to explain the finer points of surfboard shaping and surfboard design with Jon often watching-on as Matt shaped his boards. Fast forward to 1992 and Jon made a permanent move to Oahu’s North Shore where he picked up work repairing boards at Country Surfboards. Jon then started working with master shaper and North Shore legend Jeff Bushman who used Jon as his back-shaper which proved to be the start of a glossy career in surfboard design and shaping. Don't forget you can also order a customised version of this surfboard choosing your exact dims, fin set up and fin system, check out our customizer service at Boardshop right now. All you need to do is pump in the details and pay a £100 deposit with the balance due when we send you the board, average build time is 3-4 weeks.
