Recommended Spare Parts for Centrifugal Fans

There are four critical industrial fan parts you can’t dorun without and we recommend having on hand in case of emergency. AirPro Sales Manager and Senior Application Engineer Chet White shows you exactly which parts you need to have on your shelf in this less-than-two-minute video. Full Transcript: Every fan has critical components that you should stock on your shelf to avoid costly downtime. The fan we’re standing next to is an arrangement 8. So the components we recommend stocking on the shelf are the rotating components between the motor and the impeller. Specifically, on this fan, we have a coupling that’s connecting the motor shaft to the fan shaft. On a belt-driven fan, we would have a set of belts. We recommend keeping a set of belts or a coupling on the shelf depending on what your arrangement is. Then we have the fan shaft itself. Now, this shaft is cut to size, has special keyways - we recommend keeping one of those on hand. We recommend having a full set of bearings on the shelf because if you do have a bearing failure, you want to replace the whole set, not just one. And then inside the fan, you have the impeller. Now the impeller is the least likely of these to fail, but if it does, it’s the longest lead time, because it’s a custom component. So all four of these major drive components - your connection to the motor (in this case a coupling but could be belts), your shaft, your bearings, and your wheel - we recommend keeping on your shelf because all of them could take up to 10, 11, 12 weeks to source from the manufacturer in the event that you go down, and more often than not you need to be back up and running faster than that. So if you keep all these components on your shelf, in the event that you have a failure, you can replace them quickly and get right back up and running.
