2 Beretta 96s at the Range

While I'm not a huge .40 S&W Caliber guy I wanted to do a video with these 2 Beretta 96s. The 96 is essentially the Beretta 92 in .40 instead of 9mm. The Beretta 92 design is inspired by the locking toggle of the Walther P38. It was originally incorporated into the M1951 Beretta which was entered into the 1955 Army Trials to replace the M1911. It wasn't chosen at that time but the later 92 design which was introduced in 1972 was later chosen to supplant the 1911 as the M9. These two pistols are both 96s but they are different models. The first is a standard commercial double action/single action 96. The second is the 96D Brigadier which has a reinforced slide and is in Double Action only as it was a police contract gun. It also has the newer style dovetailed front sight which allows it to be replaced easily. Overall these are nice shooting guns. They are a big larger and heavier than more modern polymer designs but that is a benefit when shooting a snappier round like .40.
