CDC Hillsbus | Scania K230UB Volgren CR228L - m/o 9929

Our journey today is onboard m/o 9929, operating out of Hillsbus Dural Depot. One of my oldest unpublished reviews, this video was filmed in mid-2022 (almost two years ago!), before Hillsbus was rebranded into CDCNSW. From the second batch of K230UBs, 9929 was constructed in mid-2009, and is among the first Hillsbus low-entry vehicles to have a dual leaf centre door. However, the first batch, delivered a year earlier, don't have a centre door at all. These vehicles have Scania's Euro IV rated DC9 diesel engine rated for 230 horsepower. While this pales in comparison to many other buses in Australia, these vehicles don't seem to struggle too much with climbing hills. The K230UBs also have a six (not five) speed ZF EcoMat gearbox, although the kickdown into third gear is quite muffled onboard some of these vehicles. You may also have noticed that the thumbnail is actually of m/o 9912 - I forgot to take a picture of 9929 (oops) While they may not be the most special of buses, the K230UBs are one of my favourite vehicles in the fleet - they are certainly much more exciting than a Volvo B7RLE.
