💧Who's Sorry Now?💧 - SORCERER reaction and commentary

It's a living. Sorcerer is a 1977 thriller by director William Friedkin. In it, a band of misfits agree to a most dangerous job to secure safe passage out of the country. It is a remake of the inimitable Henri-Georges Clouzot's The Wages of Fear, and features an international cast led by Roy Scheider (Jaws, Marathon Man). The film has Friedkin's trademark documentary approach, an overwhelming sense of his cynicism and mistrust of power structures, as well as one of the most famous soundtracks of all time by prog rock band Tangerine Dream. At its release, the film unfortunately underperformed in a summer dominated by little indie film Star Wars (A New Hope), as well as receiving mixed reviews. Since then, it has amassed a cult following, and has entered the annals of riveting "descent of man" films alongside Wages of Fear, Aguirre, and Apocalypse Now.
