I found out my husband was cheating on me for at least 10 years | SBS Insight

Divorce rates are going down overall, but the over-50s are bucking that trend. Why are more older couples calling it quits, and what are the impacts? Insight explores this question with guests including Jan and Anne, who were married for 26 years until Jan decided at 50 it was time to transition into living as a woman. Ellen married young and had a daughter with her first husband, who was abusive. The relationship ended after 10 years with a nasty, complicated divorce. Russ and Ida were married for 22 years and amicably separated 2.5 years ago. Susan was married for 38 years and felt blindsided when her husband left out of the blue. Donna and her husband had been together for 27 years and had three kids before he came out to her as gay. Cath found out after her divorce that her husband had been cheating on her for at least 10 years. After a long relationship of coercive control and emotional abuse, Lynne decided to separate from her husband. Kate was married for 30 years and realised, once all the kids left home, that she and her husband had nothing in common. Lyn's partner, after 34 years of marriage, found a new partner.
