After World War II started, she was captured and held prisoner for four years before being released. Darlene wrote of her experience in the autobiographical book entitled, "Evidence Not Seen: A Woman's Miraculous Faith in the Jungles of World War II." She went home to be with the Lord in 2004. Darlene is survived by two grown sons and several grandchildren.
