Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), has been a long-term conundrum for medical practitioners. With no evidence-based laboratory tests for diagnosis validated or treatments, ME/CFS has been inaccurately attributed to psychological causes and lack of stamina which has led to stigmatisation. Patients rarely found specialists who would see them for the condition and often turned to alternative health care providers for answers. Over the last decade mainstream medicine has gained a greater understanding of ME/CFS. Capital Health Network together with two of Australia's pre-eminent ME/CFS researchers, Professor Sonya Marshall-Gradisnik and Dr Natalie Eaton-Fitch from the Griffith University, National Centre for Neuroimmunology and Emerging Diseases (NCNED) invite you to a webinar to update primary health care providers about the latest ME/CFS research and evidence for ME/CFS management. Learning Outcomes: Identify the appropriate screening tests for patients presenting with ME/CFS Outline the symptoms and diagnostic features of ME/CFS Explain the role of allied health providers in the care of patients with ME/CFS Summarise the evidence for medications such as Low Dose Naltrexone Discuss emerging research in the field of ME/CFS Outline resources available to patients and primary care providers such as online education, support groups and clinics.
