Nester's Funky Bowling (Virtual Boy) 2D Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Nintendo's 1996 3D Virtual Boy bowling game, Nester's Funky Bowling. I played through the game three times in this video: 0:00 1st game - Nester, Bowl Mode, Music A 3:56 2nd game - Nester, Challenge Mode, Music C 6:15 3rd game - Hester, Bowl Mode, Music B This recording is of the projection for the left eye to make for easy viewing in 2D. The angle of the screen is slightly skewed because of how the game natively relies on a 3D display - that's why the scorecard is slightly clipped on the top and side. I will be uploading a 3D SBS version of this video soon so that those of you using 3D TVs, VR headsets, or any other form of display that can do 3D will get to see what it originally looked like. Stay tuned! I love that Nester finally got to be in a game as the main character. It probably chafed him a bit, year after year presenting the Nester Awards and exploring 8-bit Nintendo land in the monthly comic strip. Well, he finally got his starring role. And it's actually not a bad game. And it was cool that I got a perfect score on the game with Hester. I was so excited, this is the first time I've done that! Remember, it is a first-party game - and regardless of how reviled the Virtual Boy is, Nintendo's games were very good on it. Most of them, at least. Personally, I love the system: I had mine out again just a few days ago to play this, Red Alarm, and TeleroBoxer, and they're still great! Just make sure that if you attempt it on the real hardware you use the auto-pause feature. The 3D effect is super effective, but the harsh red LED display will strain your eyes after awhile. And don't forget the funky power adapter - it sucks batteries otherwise. Anyone else remember the weird way to power this from an electrical lead? You had to yank the battery pack out, then you had to put a Super NES power transformer into the plug adapter, and finally plug the adapter into the empty slot. To what lengths will you go to to save a buck, Nintendo? Thanks a lot. I had, and still have, a SNES so it wasn't a big deal (though those plug adapters are hard to find anymore - I lost mine long ago and had to replace it. Way more money that it should have been, lol), but apparently not enough people bought the VB to complain about the lack of a way to plug into the wall out of the box since they recently did something quite similar with the New 3DS machines. It's got a load of neat animations, random digitized voice clips, a funky soundtrack, and best of all, Nintendo Power's own Nester! (...and his homely twin sister, Hester. Seriously, they did that). If you haven't played it, you ought to give it a test run. It's not deep, but it's fun. _______________ No cheats were used during the recording of this video.
